Diesel generator - A diesel generator is the combination of a diesel engine with an electrical generator (often called an alternator) to generate electric energy.

Diesel-electric - A number of vehicles use a diesel-electric powerplant for providing locomotion. A diesel-electric powerplant includes a diesel engine connected to an electrical generator, creating electricity that powers electric traction motors.

M-10001 - The Union Pacific Railroad's M-10001 was a diesel-electric streamliner train built in late 1934 by Pullman-Standard with an engine from General Motors' Electro-Motive Division and General Electric generator and traction motors.
